The More You Know
With this rapidly evolving industry, there are plenty of questions that come along with it.
WHAT ARE THE MEDICAL BENEFITS OF THC?
Replacement for Opioid Pain Medications
A study published in June 2017 in the scientific journal Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research, however, concluded that according to reports of medical patients, cannabis is “just as effective, if not more, than opioid-based medications for pain.” In this study, survey data from 2,897 medical cannabis patients were collected, and 97% of the sampled group reported that they either strongly agreed or agreed that they were able to decrease their opiate usage with the help of marijuana.
data suggest that cannabis has been used as a migraine treatment for years but is only now coming
Out of 121 adult participants, 40% of subjects reported positive effects.
The average number of migraine headaches decreased from 10.4 per month to 4.6.
85% of subjects reported having fewer migraines per month with cannabis.
Studies show that the cannabis compound activates pathways in the central nervous system that block pain signals from being sent to the brain.
Even an FDA-approved trial in 2013 confirmed THC’s effectiveness for pain relief.
Eases Nausea & Vomiting
Considering that other nausea medications such as Zofran can lead to side effects like: diarrhea, headache, drowsiness, blurred vision, muscle spasms, rash, fever, and constipation just to name a few – THC-based therapies are a much safer option.
Protects Brain Cells
While most drugs are neurotoxic, THC is considered to be neuroprotectant. Which means that it actually protects brain cells from damage.
Here’s a mind-blowing example: a study in 2014 found that people with THC in their systems were 80 percent less likely to die from traumatic head injuries than those without.
Effective Sleep Aid
Recent research suggests it may also improve breathing while reducing sleep interruptions.
Great news for those suffering from conditions such as sleep apnea!
Helps Treat PTSD
Some psychiatrists say that THC-rich cannabis is the only treatment for PTSD.
In fact, studies have confirmed that THC eases a variety of PTSD-related symptoms including agitation, depression, insomnia, flashbacks, and nightmares.
This means that for those suffering from PTSD, they can finally get the peaceful sleep they need to heal and regain balance in their lives.
cannabis has proven to be a hopeful solution for managing some of the difficulties that are linked to Parkinson’s disease. In fact, a study released in November 2017 by researchers at Tel Aviv University in Israel tested 40 patients with Parkinson’s Disease; they discovered that after smoking medical marijuana for a total of 19 months, many of the debilitating symptoms connected to this medical disorder were improved.
To be exact, 82% of test subjects reported an improvement of their Parkinson’s-related symptoms after the allocated period of time, while another 75% claimed an enhancement in their general and overall mood. These results provide strong evidence that cannabis could be a possible solution for minimizing both the onset and duration of Parkinson’s symptoms among those diagnosed.
What ways can I use Marijuana?
Edibles are food items made with cannabis flower or concentrates. Can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours to feel the effects. Inexperience edible users should take less than 10mg and wait 1-2 hours to see effect. Intermediate edible users should take 10-20mg, Experience edible users should us 20mg or more.
Flower is the term for the bud and the cannabis plant in its natural form. You smoke flower using a Bong, glass Peice, papers(joints), and blunts.
Concentrates are the cannabis plant that have been processed to keep only the most desirable plant compounds (primarily the cannabinoids and terpenes), while removing excess plant material and other impurities creating high percentages of THC and CBD. Forms of Concentrates come in Vape Cartridges that you connect to the battery to vaporize the oil in the cartridge. Other forms come in as RSO (Rick Simpson Oil)
Topicals or "Salves" come in different verities from oil liquid to hand cream. You apply topicals to you skin and rub "topicaly" to medicate the desired area
The most popular way to consume cannabis concentrates is by vaporizing the concentrate using a “dab rig.” This method consists of heating a “nail” (made from either glass, ceramic, or titanium) and then applying the concentrate directly onto the hot surface, instantly turning it into a vapor for consumption. While there are many inexpensive ways of turning any water pipe into a dab rig.
